Jamie Pow

Designer & founder of UX Companion. Based in London.

I've spent most of the last two decades in design — mostly leading UX, product and digital design teams across retail, travel and scientific publishing. I'm currently Associate Director, Experience Design at JD.com / Joybuy, and before that I was Head of UX at Selfridges & Co for nearly a decade.

UX Companion is the practical UX toolkit I always wanted but couldn't find: tools that are grounded in real frameworks (WCAG, Nielsen, JTBD, NN/g) rather than improvised, paired with writing that takes the practice seriously without the cargo-cult vocabulary.

What I write about here

The principle behind the site

Every tool and article on UX Companion follows the same rule: frameworks first, AI second. If something can be measured deterministically — contrast ratios, tap targets, reading age — it's measured in code. AI handles what AI is good at: rationale, synthesis, suggestion. Never the numbers themselves.

The longer version is in the manifesto.

How to reach me

The fastest way is email: hello@uxcompanion.co.uk. I read everything; reply rate is high.

If you want to send a portfolio for casual feedback, send it that way too. I can't promise a turnaround, but if I have a few minutes I'll send notes back.

For everything else — collaborations, speaking, feedback on the tools — same email is fine.
